A STANDOUT UTILITY SCALE SOLAR PORTFOLIO IN THE BRAZILIAN MARKET

Elementos Empreendimentos, an independent Brazilian power project developer, has amassed a 2,000 MW (AC) portfolio of utility scale solar power projects; of which 750 MW (AC) are registered for Brazil’s upcoming solar energy auction.

The projects will benefit from an exceptional solar resource (2,000-2,300 kWh/m2/year), easily constructible topography, proximity to the grid, optimized technology using single-axis tracking, and the backing of a team that has developed and constructed more than 5,000 MW of energy projects worldwide.

Each 30 MW (AC) solar project will consist of high-efficiency solar PV modules installed on single-axis trackers, at a 10 degree angle, and will face north. The energy generation process provides electricity with no air emissions, no waste production and very little water use. The modules were selected for high efficiency and resistance to high temperatures. The use of single-axis trackers significantly increases the Project’s energy production while reducing land use and infrastructure costs.

The Projects’ electricity will be sold under a power purchase agreement with the Brazilian government, following success in an energy auction administered by the EPE (Energy Research Company).

Bola Projects – 450 MW

Elementos is developing a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power project (the “Bola Complex”) composed of 15 projects totaling 450 MW (AC) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in northeast Brazil.  On an annual basis, the Bola Complex projects will produce enough energy to meet the needs of over 750,000 average Brazilian homes.

Location

The Bola Solar Plant site is located on an agricultural property located near the city of Assú. The solar plant complex will occupy approximately 600 hectares of land located to the west of the RN 233 regional highway.

The region receives strong and consistent solar radiation, making it an ideal location for a solar power plant. The project site is well located between the regional center of Assú to the north, and the cities of Mossoró to the west and Natal to the east, meaning there is significant need for electrical power in the region. The project site consists of flat, sparsely vegetated rural land with a good buffer area from nearby residents.


Dom Pedro Projects – 180 MW

Elementos is developing a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power project (the “Dom Pedro Complex”) composed of 6 projects totaling 180 MW (AC) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in northeast Brazil.  On an annual basis, the Dom Pedro Complex projects will produce enough energy to meet the needs of over 300,000 average Brazilian homes.

Location

The Dom Pedro Solar Plant site is located on an agricultural property located near the city of Mossoró. The solar plant complex will occupy approximately 250 hectares of land located to the south of the RN 015 regional highway.

The region receives strong and consistent solar radiation, making it an ideal location for a solar power plant. The project site is well located between the regional center of Russas to the west, and the cities of Mossoró and Natal to the east, meaning there is significant need for electrical power in the region. The project site consists of flat farmland land with a good buffer area from nearby residents; as this land has been tilled for many years, it is unlikely to have natural resource value, or to need grading, and is, in fact, perfect for solar.


Luz Projects – 50 MW

Elementos is developing a mid-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) power project (the “Luz Complex”) composed of 2 projects totaling 50 MW (AC) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in northeast Brazil. On an annual basis, the Luz Complex projects will produce enough energy to meet the needs of over 90,000 average Brazilian homes.

Location

The Luz Solar Plant site is located on an agricultural property located near the city of Apodi. The solar plant complex will occupy approximately 70 hectares of land located to the west of the BR 405 regional highway (a paved road allowing for high-speed traffic).

The region receives strong and consistent solar radiation, making it an ideal location for a solar power plant. The project site is well located between the regional center of Russas to the west, and the cities of Mossoró to the north and Natal to the east, meaning there is significant need for electrical power in the region The project site consists of flat farmland land with a good buffer area from nearby residents; as this land has been tilled for many years, it is unlikely to have natural resource value, or to need grading, and is, in fact, perfect for solar.
